As the weather was cool and rainy this week, these items were at the top of my ‘to do’ list. If your household is anything like mine, your list was similar. As family members, their friends and any pets make their way to the family room, it is covered with blankets, ready to be used again by its rightful owner, as they sit to watch tv, text on their phone and flip through their schoolbooks. Let’s not forget to flip the dog, it may help the snoring. As they all seem to be calm and happy, you can sense a slight agitation.
They are all waiting patiently for the fireplace.
Ah yes, the missing item from my ‘to do’ list. If you have a wood burning fireplace or a gas fireplace, the chimney still needs to be cleaned & checked. The chimney sweep includes a thorough inspection ensuring that your chimney and fireplace are free from any leaks, damage or cracks. It’s best to take care of any chimney or fireplace repairs regardless of how big or small, as the crack, leak or damage will continue to grow and get worse over time.
As you’ve read in my other stories, water is not a chimney’s friend. Water will make its way into the chimney’s masonry finding its weakest spot to begin a new crack or flake the brick. With the amount of rain we’ve had this week, did you ‘hear’ any water dripping or check for any dampness or moisture?
So now that you’ve found the long sleeve shirts, took care of everyone’s cold symptoms and purchased the furnace filters, calling Superior Chimney to clean and inspect the fireplace and chimney is the easiest item on the ‘to do’ list.
Now you can take your bowl of soup, sit on the couch and enjoy some quiet time by simply listening to the crackles of the fireplace. Call us today to get started. 877-CHIM-FIX or 877-244-6349. Visit online:www.superiorchimney.net
