Being Santa’s chimney helpers holds a great deal of responsibility. We hold meetings each year reviewing safety measures to ensure presents…and Santa stays safe during travels down the chimney. Santa did ask that we post a few of his safety tips:
Â
• Holiday wrapping, ribbon and tissue: It’s a ton of fun to tear into those presents. Be sure to place all wrappings in the recycle…even the smallest of pieces. Holiday wrapping can easily catch fire as it contains additives that quickly ignite.
Â
• Fake or real, needles from the Christmas tree fall to the ground. Make sure little hands don’t grab the needles and throw it into the fireplace. The needles and/or wood from the live tree hasn’t been treated properly for wood burning fireplaces and this can be a hazard.
Â
• Smoke from the fireplace needs to go up and out of the house. I don’t think you want your home to be a smokehouse.
From the Superior Chimney Family, we wish you and your family a Happy Holiday Season full of warmth and glow.
